The Bachelor of Science program in Nursing prepares students to become competent nurses, armed with scientific knowledge and professional attitudes as well as intellectual and practical skills. Graduates from SGUB’s Nursing Program excel in providing the highest quality of care to individuals of all ages and in various medical contexts.
In partnership with the Faculty of Medicine and with the Nursing Services of Saint George University Hospital Medical Center, the BS in Nursing program incorporates extensive and supervised clinical education in selected and relevant clinical healthcare settings and focuses on simulation in training.  This program includes a theoretical base on the following medical sub-topics: acute and chronic medical / surgical nursing; maternal and newborn health; child and adolescent health; mental health; care of the patient with complex and high dependency health needs; and community health. 
The Nursing program is community-based and includes active group learning from real-life situations and simulation activities, the development of reflective practices, and the use of latest research findings in nursing sciences to assure the most relevant, current and appropriate care.

Why Study Nursing at SGUB?

Studying Nursing at SGUB Provides you with the opportunity to immediately find employment in various locations: 

- Hospital in all specialties:
 BSN Nurse can work in medical surgical units, critical care units, Operating room, pediatric unit, psychiatry where they assess and monitor patients, administer medication and teach patient and families according to their needs and apply the leadership and management skills in caring patient 
- Day care, school: 
 Provides onsite assessment of a sick or injured child’s needs and monitor for a healthy environment 
- Primary health care centers, rehabilitation center and humanitarian organization:
 Work in promoting health and play different role as caregiver, educator, advocate and collaborator  



The Faculty of Nursing offers a Bachelor of Sciences in Nursing with the possibility to pursue further studies in nursing such as a Master degree and a PhD in Nursing Sciences. These degrees open new doors of opportunity for leadership positions such as nurse specialist, researcher, and university lecturer.


3-year sample course plan

The program—which includes major courses in nursing, general requirement courses and elective courses—comprises of 103 credits and spans over three years. It alternates between periods of theory at the faculty and practical placements in different professional settings (hospitals, dispensaries, clinics).  
The Nursing Program at SGUB equips our graduates with the necessary skills to find good employment and also to apply to national and international graduate programs.

Undergraduate Research Assistantships
As part of our commitment to fostering a research-driven environment, we offer research assistantship opportunities to motivated undergraduate students. Research assistants work closely with faculty members on cutting-edge research projects, contributing to advancements in the field. This hands-on experience allows students to develop research skills, gain exposure to state-of-the-art methodologies, and collaborate with leading researchers. Undergraduate Student Mentoring
Our peer-mentoring program provides students with the opportunity to receive additional assistance and guidance from their fellow students who have excelled in their courses. Peer mentors are carefully selected based on their academic achievements and teaching abilities; they provide personalized tutoring sessions, offer study tips and strategies, and help students build confidence in their understanding of the subject matter. Peer mentoring is a valuable resource that promotes collaborative learning and academic success among our students.
As a recognition of their commitment to supporting their peers, students who actively participate in Undergraduate Student Mentoring receive certificates of achievement from the Faculty of Nursing. These certificates serve as a testament to their academic excellence and valuable contributions to the learning community.

Undergraduate Course Assistantships
Undergraduate Course Assistants are selected based on their academic achievements and teaching abilities; they assist faculty members in delivering courses that the students had already taken and demonstrated proficiency. Undergraduate Course Assistants develop teaching and communication skills and demonstrate a passion for fostering the growth of their fellow students.
As a recognition of their commitment, students who serve as Undergraduate Course Assistants receive certificates of achievement from the Faculty of Nursing. These certificates serve as a testament their academic excellence and valuable contributions to the learning community.
