The 2026-2027 residency and fellowship application timeline is as follows:
From December 19, 2025 to February 20, 2026.
All applicants should take note of the following:
• Carefully read the information provided on this page before starting your application.
• Submit your application online through the Application Portal by clicking the “Apply” button.
Please follow all steps and upload the required documents as instructed.
• Monitor your email for all notifications and instructions sent after submitting your application.
1. For Residency and Fellowship Applicants
• Both IFOM BSE and IFOM CSE score reports must be uploaded.
• Scores must be valid for 3 years with a minimum score of 70 for each.
(Please refer to the IFOM exam table below for additional guidance if needed)
2. Medical Education Requirement
• Only MD applicants with 7 years of medical education or equivalent are eligible to initiate application.
• Applicants with 6 years of medical education are required to complete one year of internship before initiating application. (Proof of enrollment in internship year is required)
• Applicants for Dermatology should have completed a 1 year of internal medicine Residency prior to Applying.
• Applicants for the fellowship program should have completed three years of Internal Medicine.
• Applicants for Pediatric Hematology and Medical Oncology should have completed three years of Residency in Pediatrics prior to Applying.
• This website and all emails received from SGUB team are the only source of official information to be followed.
• Admission to all programs is by competitive selection and meeting the eligibility criteria to apply, a program having a vacant seat does not guarantee selection.
• Our team will not reply to emails regarding individual application status. For avoidance of doubt, all applications submitted before the deadline will be reviewed by our review timeline, and all applications which are eligible are forwarded to the programs for their consideration.
• The complete file should be submitted to SGUB Application Portal before February 20, 2026, at 5:00 PM.
• Incomplete or overdue applications cannot be considered and processed for selection.
• Applicants selected for interviews are contacted by email following file screening and filtering.

*Note: If you have registered with SGUB for one of the IFOM exam dates listed on the Application, you are required to pay the IFOM fee in person at the SGUB Accounting Office ONLY on the following three dates:

Please make sure to first complete your Application Fees payment at BLOM Bank – Rmeil, then proceed to the SGUB Accounting Office with the Application payment receipt as proof to pay the IFOM exams fees.
SGUB in affiliation with SGUMC offers 30 medical and surgical residency and fellowship training programs to date including both categorical and preliminary tracks:
Pediatric Hematology and Medical Oncology
Rheumatology
- Our residency training programs range in duration from three to six years.
- We recruit to our programs through a single annual intake, with selected trainees joining their programs the following July.

For international MD diploma holders: an equivalence certified by the
Ministry of Education is
required.
For Lebanese University graduates: a letter of completion may be submitted
until the thesis is finalized (required before diploma issuance).

IFOM (BSE & CSE) or USMLE (Step 1 & Step 2) Results
Must be attached before the application deadline.
Minimum score of 70 on each exam.
Only applicants who register for the IFOM exams through SGUB will be exempted
from uploading their IFOM scores before
the deadline.
IFOM exams are valid for 3 years.

Proof of English Proficiency
(Duolingo minimum 120, IELTS minimum 7.0, TOEFL minimum 88) or a Language of
Instruction Certificate issued by the University.
Must be attached before the application deadline.
English exams are valid for 2 years.

Three Recommendation Letters
(1 from the Dean + 2 from faculty members)
Must be attached before the application deadline.
· Updated Curriculum-Vitae
(CV)
Must be attached

· Valid BLS/ACLS
certificates

MOPH License to Practice
May be submitted after the application deadline.

Publication Record
Published articles:
include DOI.
Unpublished work: include project title, research data, date, and journal.

• All required scores and results must be valid at the time of application.
• Your application is valid only for the academic year and the residency/fellowship program to which they are being made.
• All applications will be requested to submit the physical official hard copy of all uploaded documents if acceptance was granted.
