OVERVIEW

Saint George University Medical Center (SGUMC), the primary teaching hospital of the Faculty of Medicine at Saint George University of Beirut (SGUB), invites applications for a full-time Musculoskeletal (MSK) Radiologist – Specialist Level to join its Department of Diagnostic Imaging.

Job Title: MSK Radiologist – Specialist Level
Reports to: Department of Diagnostic Imaging

Key Responsibilities

1. Clinical Duties – Diagnostic MSK Imaging

The successful candidate will interpret the full spectrum of musculoskeletal imaging studies, including but not limited to:
• X-ray imaging (trauma and non-trauma)
• CT and MRI of bones, joints, spine, and soft tissues
• Sports injuries, arthritis, tumors, and infections
• Pre-operative and post-operative MSK imaging
• Tumor staging and follow-up
• Imaging of prostheses and postoperative complications

2. Clinical Duties – Interventional MSK Procedures

The candidate is expected to independently perform MSK interventional procedures, including:
• Image-guided joint injections (US/CT/fluoroscopy) and arthrograms
• Bursal injections and aspirations
• Tendon sheath injections
• Nerve blocks (e.g., suprascapular, sciatic, femoral, obturator)
• CT-guided bone biopsies
• US- or CT-guided soft-tissue biopsies
• Vertebral procedures (vertebroplasty, kyphoplasty)
• Radiofrequency or cryoablation of bone and soft-tissue tumors
• Drainage of MSK collections and abscesses
• Pre-operative localization procedures
The candidate will ensure strict adherence to sterile technique, informed consent, radiation safety standards, and comprehensive procedural documentation.

Academic, Teaching, and Scholarly Responsibilities

• Active participation in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, including teaching and supervision of medical students, residents, and fellows
• Participation in MSK tumor boards and multidisciplinary academic conferences
• Contribution to curriculum delivery, case-based teaching, and academic conferences within the Department and Faculty of Medicine
• Engagement in clinical research, scholarly activities, and quality improvement initiatives
• Encouragement of scholarly output, including presentations at national and international meetings and peer-reviewed publications
• Compliance with Faculty of Medicine bylaws, academic governance, and promotion criteria

Institutional Responsibilities

• Timely and accurate reporting in accordance with ACR and institutional standards
• Participation in on-call coverage as per departmental schedule
• Adherence to hospital bylaws, radiation safety regulations, and clinical protocols

Qualifications

• Medical Degree 
• Completion of an accredited Radiology Residency 
• Fellowship training in Musculoskeletal Imaging (Preferred: minimum of two years post-fellowship experience) 
• Demonstrated competence in MSK interventional procedures 

  Strong communication skills and ability to work within multidisciplinary academic teams 

 

 

Academic Appointment 

The successful candidate will be eligible for appointment at the appropriate academic rank within the Faculty of Medicine, Saint George University of Beirut, based on qualifications, experience, and academic profile. Academic evaluation and promotion will follow Faculty bylaws and policies.
